Bokens första mening: Brendan Walker knew the house was going to be terrible.

Handling: 
Brendan, Elenor, and Cordelia Walker once had everything: two loving parents, a beautiful house in San Francisco, and all the portable electronic devices they could want. But everything changed when Dr. Walker lost his job in the wake of a mysterious incident. Now in dire straits, the family must relocate to an old Victorian house that used to be the home of occult novelist Denver Kristoff - a house that feels simultaneously creepy and too good to be true.
   By the time the Walkers realize that one of their neighbors has sinister plans for them, they're banished to a primeval forest way of the grid. Their parents? Gone. Their friends? A world away. And they aren't alone. Bloodthirsty medieval warriors patrol the woods around them, supernatural pirates roam the neighboring seas, and a power-hungry queen rules the land. Min åsikt:
Jag gillar karaktärerna i boken, de tre syskonen som är så underhållande. Trots att jag trodde boken skulle vara lite annorlunda, så var den bra ändå. Jag "sögs" inte in i boken som man gör när man läser en bok man älskar. Berättelsen var helt okej, det som gör boken är karaktärerna!
  Det hände något hela tiden vilket jag gillar, och jag gillar också att kapitlen var så korta. Jag tycker början av boken var nog det jag gillade bäst i hela boken, den började verkligen jättebra. Då familjen var tillsammans och hade sina interna skämt och det var något mystiskt med deras hus som pågick. Det var i princip bara tre kapitel eftersom allt hände så snabbt. Ena stunden var de i huset och andra i någon annan värld.
Jag vet inte vad jag kan säga mer än att jag varken älskade den eller avskydde den. Den kommer någonstans mitt emellan därför får den en trea. Det är en bra bok att läsa ifall du vill ut på ett äventyr, för ett långt äventyr var det och det gillar jag.
